On top of all the crazy deadlines, workshops in NYC, my husband’s birthday and the twins’ 4th birthday, I am attending two conferences this month. What was I thinking? The first one is the International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting. This is a glimpse of what I am packing for my trip to the IAMPETH conference in Albuquerque next week. I am so excited, and I don’t want to forget anything. I will be micro blogging from the conference all week and I will post it on my instagram feed. If you are attending the IAMPETH conference, please say hello, I would love to meet you! Lets be calligra-pals!  xoxo M

once wed feature

oncewed-132 I’m so thrilled to share that my work was featured on Once Wed earlier this week. This was a styled photo shoot that took place at Villa Woodbine in Coconut Grove. What a spectacular location! This was the creative vision of the the very talented Miranda Estes of Sugar(ed)Designs in South Florida. The amazing photographs that you see here were taken by Ozzy Garcia, gorgeous floral designs by Julia Rohde Designs.

Most of the time, I am not present on set when these items are photographed. Miranda contacted me and shared her Pinterest inspiration board and overall feel for the shoot, then provided the text and blank sheets of gold paper for me to create the menus. It is not often that  I am given the free creative control of such details. In this case Miranda wanted to see what I would come up with, and I think they worked well in these lovely photographs! The hardest part for me when working on styled shoots, is to come up with fake menus and fictitious addresses for the stationery items that are being photographed, but she had that all ready for me- I love when that happens!

The invitation featured here is an actual sample of a letterpress design that I created for Bella Figura. It is from my exclusive collection of designs, called “Modern Chateau“, and this is exactly the type of wedding I had dreamed up when I designed this invitation for the 2013 collection. You can’t see this, but the edges are painted with gold.  The way that the invitation was photographed has got to be one of my favorite photos ever, that dress! I do hope to collaborate with this talented team in the future, Thanks guys! xoxo M.

London Calling

In January of this year, I was asked to create some fun tea party inspired invitations for a sweet girl named London Lake who turned one. I was so excited to start work on this invitation, especially since London is one of my favorite cities in the world as you will see on my Pinterest board Tea in London. Later this year, my friend Kristen will be celebrating her birthday there. It just so happens that her best friend is pregnant and is due around that time and wont be able to travel with her, so I am going in her place!!! Now it’s official because plane tickets have been purchased and we have started a Pinterest board Wanderlust London just for this trip! If anyone has some places to recommend, please let me know!

So where was I? Oh yes, London’s Lovely Tea party inspired first birthday.  I cut the paper in the shape of a tea bag, they were printed by hand on my print Gocco  with  what was left of my gold ink. I also made a cute banner for the cake topper, and other signs for the different teas. This is the most creative and stylish one year old birthday party that I have ever seen. I am so honored to have taken part in such a special party for a darling little girl! I am so thrilled that  it was featured on the blog On to Baby and you can see more photos here.  The gorgeous photos that you see here were taken by the lovely and talented Kirsten Julia Photography. I hope to work with Kirsten on another project soon!
